Hi, my name is Matthew White, and I am a 29 year old Systems Analyst based in Sheffield, England. I have many years of software development and business experience to share with you over time.

Why the dev cat? It is the name of my favourite bar in Sheffield (excellent range of beers) and sums up the traits of a modern software developer, being that you need the agility, reflexes and nine lives of a cat to succeed in the corporate software department.

So what experience do I have? I have worked across many different industries as a software developer working on simple applications to full blown enterprise scale applications. I am a big supporter of design patterns and simplified systems design, and I am currently looking at a new form of software development, the “disposable software model” which is suited to fast changing environments.

What do I do other than talk about software development. Well, quite a lot really. I have a keen interest in social projects and I am actively seeking projects to get involved with  and I am a dedicated Sheffield United supporter.
